Award-winning bookshop, opened in 2019. Mainly new books, but a significant and good-quality second-hand stock. Also serves coffee.

Tertulia is a well-regarded shop that hosts a large number of book-related events and puts a lot back into its community. In 2021 it won Ireland's 'Best Independent Bookshop of the Year' award, and in the 2024 British Book Awards it was an island of Ireland finalist. Its owners, Neil and Brid, are keen to promote a circular, sustainable economy, and second-hand books account for about 20% of the shop's stock. History and Irish interest feature strongly, but there is a good and varied mix of fiction and non-fiction, including some elusive titles. Cash and card payments accepted. Access for customers with disabilities is straightforward and there is a wheelchair ramp. Westport Quay is almost two miles west of the town centre.

Westport has good transport links. It is the terminus of a regular train service from Dublin, via Athlone and Roscommon, and can also be reached by Bus Éireann services from Galway/Castlebar (route 456), Knock Airport (440), Clifden (423) and Louisburgh (450); the last of these routes continues to Westport Quay.

We offer second hand and rare books, modern first editions and signed books. We also deal in Rare and vintage Maps of Ireland and the world (17th to 19th century) as well as rare Vinyl Records.

A delightful shop with well presented, interesting books in very good condition. The owner is knowledgeable and pleasant. Some of the pricing is ambitious. Well worth a visit if you are in town.  Loyola 10.06.17
