A bookshop and café with quite a large stock of books (mainly second-hand, but also some new).

Full-height bookcases filled with decent-quality books line the walls. This is not just a coffee shop that stocks a few books as a sideline. There is a sizeable selection here. Specialities include Irish and local history, as well as fiction by Irish authors. The historic town of Kells is famous for its abbey and for the ninth-century extravagantly illustrated manuscript The Book of Kells (now kept 40 miles away in the library of Trinity College Dublin). Kells is just off the M3 motorway and has good bus links, including the frequent 109, 109A and 109X services from Dublin and Meath's largest town, Navan (the last of these also goes north to Cavan) and the less frequent 167, which serves Mullingar, Louth and Dundalk.  Booker T 22.12.24
