Second-hand and antiquarian books of Irish interest. Very large stock.

This business, established in 2013, trades mostly online but welcomes callers by prior appointment. The owner, Kevin, is a regular on the book fair circuit on the island of Ireland and takes a large range of his stock to the main fairs (Dublin, Cork, Kilkenny, Fethard, Wexford, Belfast etc), as well as to book festivals. Portlaw is a small town about ten miles from Waterford.  Booker T 20.04.24

Second-hand bookshop in the city centre, opened in August 2024. A wide-ranging stock of generally good quality.

Little Lane is a welcome addition to the second-hand book scene in south-east Ireland: a new shop that places a high priority on sourcing good-quality stock. It has a wide range of literary and popular fiction. Sci-fi is a speciality. Also a good selection of children's books. The non-fiction stock is very varied, but books on Irish interest, especially Irish history (and indeed history in general) feature strongly. The books are in good condition and the prices are very reasonable. The likeable owner, Jim Reid, reports that trade has been very brisk: "Waterford loves books!" The shop is in the heart of the city centre, just off the Apple Market, not much more than a ten-minute walk from Waterford railway station (which is on the opposite bank of the River Suir) and about half that distance from Waterford bus station on the quay. For the rest of 2024, it is open from 12 noon until 4pm on 23rd & 24th December and from 10am to 5.30pm on the 27th & 28th. Normal opening hours resume on 2nd January 2025.  Booker T 23.12.24

I followed my wife into a common or garden Oxfam shop as I had nothing better to do. To my amazement it had a number of shelves of books, none more than thirty years old, but all of a good quality and standard. All were priced at E2 (approx £1.81 as I write) and I ended up purchasing nine titles. The shop is just down from the superb BOOK CENTRE, an independent store now occupying the Art Deco styled old Savoy Cinema.  Chris Harte 19.10.16
Always worth checking out in a city now devoid of second hand bookshops. The best of the charity shops in Waterford (but the bar is low).  Loyola 13.04.17
